Mismatched: A Poem
By: Maya Thomas
We sat in the garden with all our books
Looking through blades of grass for clovers
Our fingers stained from eating the berries
A slow setting sun and its bright colors
Untied laces on pairs of mismatched shoes
That big cherry pie for both you and I
One day the sun went down and never rose
