Carry out random acts of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.
— Diana, Princess of Wales

Diana, Princess of Wales, will forever and always be “the people’s princess.”

When she wasn’t participating in groundbreaking philanthropic work, spending time with her beloved boys, or holidaying in far-off places, she was redefining and reinventing royal fashion. From her 1981 ivory silk taffeta and antique lace wedding dress to the infamous black silk “Revenge Dress” of 1994, Princess Diana was never one to shy away from stylistic expression.

While many of the products the monarch used twenty years ago no longer exist, her timeless and effortless beauty can be easily achieved with soft, berry-toned lips, dewy skin, and a light swipe of mascara. Princess Diana was also often spotted sporting eyeliner as vibrant and lovable as her personality.

Today, Princess Diana’s influence on the world of fashion can still be seen. A prime example can be found in the wardrobes of two more recent monarchs who have taken significant cues from their predecessor’s style: Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. Chic sets, one-shouldered gowns, wide-legged pants, and fine jewelry from Princess Diana’s private collection have been incorporated into their modern-day royal styling.

Of course, Princess Diana’s impact on history goes far beyond her role as a fashion icon. Her story is one of resilience, grace, love, and generosity. She truly represents the women of the past, present, and future who aim to change the world for the better!
